PANJIM: The lockdown period in May witnessed 156 road accidents across the State wherein eight persons lost their lives.
Monthly data released by the Department of Transport reveals that out of 156 accidents, maximum 90 were in South Goa while 66 were in the North District. Of these, eight were fatal (North Goa – 3 and South Goa 5) whereas 11 were grievous accidents (NG – 4 and SG – 7), 33 minor accidents (NG – 6 and SG – 27) and 105 were non injury accidents (NG – 53 and SG – 52). Eight persons lost their lives in the accidents, of which five were in South and three in North District. These included five drivers, a pillion rider, pedestrian and passenger.
