In next village, broken pipe leaking drinking water goes unnoticed by PWD

SANGUEM: Even as the neighbouring Villian village has not received drinking water for the past three days, hundreds of litres of drinking water are flowing to waste in Valkini Colony No.1.

The pipeline which supplies drinking water to the village has ruptured and has developed a major leak near a canal in the village, and the PWD has remained oblivious of the damage.  Local resident Manoj Paryekar said that the pipe has been leaking precious fresh water for the past few days. He added that the Valmiki colony residents also depend on supply from bore wells if there is a breakdown of the main drinking water supply pipe.

The  three pump stands installed inside the bore well  are damaged and have now crumpled into bits inside the well, he claimed. The Department has failed to remove the broken pumps, and instead, have been installing additional pumps to restore water supply as a temporary measure, which has in turn resulted in permanent problems for the villagers, Parvekar added.
