In-party resentment brews in RGP before polls

PANJIM: In a setback to Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP), the group’s own General Secretary, Suraj Naik has lashed out RGP Supremo Manoj Parab and other leaders for various irregularities including alleged misuse of its finances.

While addressing media persons on Wednesday, Naik said he had sent a show cause notice to RGP leaders and is waiting on them to respond to his allegations.

He explained that he was removed from the group’s internal WhatsApp groups when he started asking questions about RGP’s functioning. He alleged that forged documents were used for RGP’s registration and feared that his own signature as General Secretary could have been forged.

He further alleged that RGP has not kept proper accounts of the funding it has received, be it cash donations received at its corner and public meetings or large financial donations from RGP supporters from Goa or outside India from countries like London.

Naik said the people who had made these financial contributions had started to ask where this money was used for and that RGP had not even given them any receipts for their donations.

He also hit out at Parab for hiding from RGP members that his name is Tukaram and not Manoj and used this as an example of how Parab had misled the RGP supporter base and public.

He said Goans should think twice of supporting such leaders who are promoting ‘fotingponn’. He also questioned if they truly cared for the cause of genuine ‘Goemkars’ as opposed to pursuing their own vested interests.

When asked if he would remain as General Secretary, he put the onus on RGP to take action and reiterated that they have to reply to his show-cause notice first.
