PANJIM: Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Monday said the State has in principle received approval for the centrally funded Electronic Design Systems Manufacturing (EDSM) hub in the electronic city at Tuem in Pernem.
“We have got in principle approval. We have to submit the entire project by July 20, 2016. We will have an interactive session with stakeholders and industry before finalizing the draft,” the Chief Minister said.
He said the Union government is funding Rs 50 crore for the project and approval will be given by August-end. “We have also planned an Information Technology Park at Chimbel, Tiswadi which will be spread across 100 acres of land,” the CM said.
He said an additional 50 acres will be used for the IT park in Chimbel by shifting the AYUSH project to Dhargalim village. “I have already spoken to AYUSH Minister recently and put forth my proposal and he has agreed to shift the project to Dhargalim where additional facilities with additional land can be incorporated,” the CM said.
He said Goa will overtake states like Karnataka and Tamil Nadu in the IT industry in the next five to six years. “Goa is a blessed State. If State government is serious and sincere, it can find solutions to the problems. In the case of IT industry, we are sincere,” CM said.
