CANACONA: Heavy rains combined with gusty winds caused many trees to get uprooted, at least eight of which fell on houses, electrical alignments and roads causing considerable damages and losses at different locations in Canacona taluka on Friday. Fire and Emergency office in Canacona while referring to the heavy downpour, said they were busy attending to the calls throughout Friday. Most of which were distress calls of trees falling on residential houses.
Sources informed that a huge tree came crashing down on the Palolem-Agonda road at Dumane at about 10 am.
Palolem and Gaondogrem saw many trees uprooting and falling on residential houses causing financial losses to the owners. Some of the trees were chopped and removed while others were being attended to, said sources at the fire station.
