MARGAO: Inclusion of Konkani in Google Translate Service is a first step to take the language forward by adopting the skills of technology. This service will help several people involved in translation and also to learn other languages, said Sanjeet Hegde Desai, the son of soil, working at Google as Senior Manager Business Systems.
He was speaking at the special function-cum-open discussion organised by the KBM at Margao on Monday.
Taking a serious note of contribution towards the inclusion of Konkani language in Google Translate Service, KBM felicitated Sanjeet for playing a major role in fulfilling the dream of the Konkani community.
The attendees pledged to contribute towards enriching the Konkani language on Google.
Sanjeet was felicitated by senior Konkani writer Adv Uday Bhembre.
Bhembre appreciated the efforts of Desai, besides Chetan Acharya, and appealed to the Konkani people to move forward by adopting the new technology.
“The contribution of Desai will be remembered in Konkani language history permanently. We need more and more contributions from Konkani writers and Konkani people for the language to flourish on the Internet by publishing quality literature. We also need quantity”, said Adv Bhembre.
He also mentioned about similar type of work initiated 25 to 30 years back.
Konkani activist Chetan Acharya said this is the time to work unitedly for the betterment of Konkani.
