PANJIM: The State government on Thursday notified inclusion of Panjim planning area under Greater Panjim Planning and Development Authority (GPPDA) headed by local MLA Atanasio Monserrate.
The Town and Country Planning (TCP) Board during its meeting on October 11 had resolved to bifurcate Panjim planning area from the jurisdiction of North Goa Planning and Development Area (NGPDA).
In a notification issued, Chief Town Planner Rajesh Naik said that Panjim Planning area along with Taleigao, Bambolim and Kadamba plateau are merged sinto GPPDA.
Taleigao MLA Jennifer Monserrate, St Cruz MLA Tony Fernandes, St Andre MLA Francisco Silveira, Cumbharjua MLA Pandurang Madkaikar, City Mayor, concerned Sapranchas are members of GPPDA. There are also some local citizens on the authority.
Similarly, the NGPDA now comprises of Mapusa, Calangute-Candolim and Arpora-Nagoa-Parra planning areas. NGPA is headed by St Andre MLA Francisco Silveira, while its members are Calangute MLA Michael Lobo, Mapusa MLA Joshua D’Souza, Aldona MLA Glen Ticlo, Siolim MLA Vinod Palienkar, Saligao MLA Jayesh Salgaonkar and Tivim MLA Nilkant Halarnkar along with others.
