MARGAO: Some incomplete works in Navelim caught the attention of the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) chief Deepak Pauskar during his visit to the constituency on Thursday.
The site inspection by the GSIDC chief at Navelim revealed that the beautification work worth Rs 4.40 crore was left half done while another work in Fatorda too was left incomplete.  After inspecting the sites, Pauskar assured to write to the Public Works Department to find out the nitty gritty.
The GSIDC chairman also visited the village panchayat of Navelim, reviewed the Xelpem Bandh road and the Sinquetim Ground and also inspected the Davorlim – Zoriwaddo Ground work along with local MLA Luizinho Faleiro.
After inspecting the Xelpem bandh site, the GSIDC Chairman said “The bandh work worth Rs 4.40 crore includes beautification, road works, repairs and footpath. The work also includes removal of poles and trees. Since the work of a sewage pipeline was carried out here, the contractor could not complete the road and footpath works due to the non-removal of the poles”.
“The Forest Department has not granted permission to remove the trees and hence the same could not be done. Only 50 per cent of the total Rs 4.40 crore work has been carried out and the rest they say has been undertaken in Fatorda,” he added.
The Chairman informed that the entire amount has been paid to the contractor.
During his inspection, Pauskar found that the contractor had the permission to carry out remaining works in Fatorda and assured to find out what work has been undertaken in Fatorda under this contract.
“The works allotted to a certain area have to be completed there and cannot be shifted to another site,” Pauskar added.
