MERCES: Though the Jadeed Urdu High School Headmaster Shaikh Sulaiman Karol tried to clear his side of the story, some inconsistencies surfaced in the claims made by the management on Thursday and those made by the headmaster on Saturday.
What surprised reporters is the fact that the management never mentioned that a sexual harassment complaint had been registered against the teacher.
Further, while a member of the sexual harassment committee informed that the teacher refused to appear before the committee for her say in the matter, the teacher informed Herald that she was never contacted by the panel.
Also unusual is the fact that while the management claimed that the teacher enacted the entire episode as an act of revenge because her services were terminated; the headmaster said that the teacher was never asked to leave her job and that it was an attempt to malign his name.
Incidentally, the headmaster’s statement that the teacher was recruited by then school manager Maula Ali has been flatly denied by Ali, who said that the teacher was recruited by Karol himself and that he had no role to play.
The victim teacher also informed Herald that it was Karol who had offered the job to her and that too, without asking to produce any certificates. “If I was recruited without certificates then, why am I asked to produce certificates now,” she quipped, while adding that she left the job on the directives of the headmaster.
“I am not the only teacher who has not produced certificates. There are several other teachers in the school who have not produced certificates till date and the Education department should inquire into the matter,” she demanded.
On the molestation episode, the teacher said that it occurred early in the morning when there was nobody around in the school.
“Prior to the episode, the headmaster was misbehaving with me and two of my colleagues were aware of the same,” she claimed.
On the SMS sent to the headmaster citing her resignation, the teacher replied: “I did so as I could not take the harassment any longer.”
