INDIA Bloc leaders meet, resolve to win LS polls

Decide to constitute a co-ordination committee comprising members of all political parties and distribute election-related works among members

PANJIM: State leaders of INDIA Bloc held its first meeting in Goa on Wednesday with a resolve to work unitedly for the victory of the candidates contesting the ensuing Lok Sabha polls.

Leaders of Congress, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Goa Forward Party, NCP Sharad Pawar faction and Shiv Sena UBT group attended the meeting held at Miramar. Congress Goa Lok Sabha election in-charge Manikrao Thakare, Leader of the Opposition Yuri Alemao and AAP MLAs Venzy Viegas and Cruz Silva were also present.

Thakare said that the Congress party will announce its candidates for both the Lok Sabha constituencies in Goa in one go.

The meeting decided to constitute a co-ordination committee comprising members of all political parties and distribute election related works among members. The I.N.D.I.A. Bloc leaders exuded confidence that they will work unitedly and win both the Lok Sabha seats in Goa.

Thakare said that in eight applications each have been received from aspirants for North and South Goa Parliamentary constituencies. He claimed that BJP is worried of I.N.D.I.A. Bloc and are now struggling to find a candidate for South Goa seat. Goa will be the deciding factor for the country, he said.

Thakare expressed confidence that people of Goa are with I.N.D.I.A. Bloc and it is their ‘Man Ki Baat’ to defeat the BJP.

Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president Amit Patkar said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is rattled with the unity of I.N.D.I.A Bloc. “We will fight the elections in one voice and in one spirit and win both the seats,” he said.
