INDIA Bloc’s Joseph Pimenta wins Benaulim ZP by-poll

Joseph secured 5,672 votes followed by Grrayfans Fernandes (2,623); Royla, who contested as Independent, polled 1,840 votes with Frank Fernandes managing only 276

MARGAO: INDIA Bloc candidate Joseph Gabrial Pimenta emerged victorious in the Benaulim by-poll on Monday. Joseph secured 5,672 votes followed by Grrayfans Fernandes (2,623). Royla Fernandes, who contested as Independent after resigning from the Congress, managed to poll 1,840 votes with Frank Fernandes managing to get 276.

A large gathering of AAP members and supporters of Joseph, present at the counting centre in Margao, celebrated his victory. 

Reacting to the Joseph’s victory, AAP’s Benaulim MLA Venzy Viegas emphasised that the triumph is a testament of the people’s support and confidence. He attributed the success to the collective efforts and initiatives undertaken during his tenure as MLA, which contributed significantly to securing the maximum votes for Joseph Pimenta, who said that this victory is of the INDIA Bloc. 

AAP State convenor Adv  Amit Palekar said that the decision to field INDIA Bloc candidate was in the interest of Goa.
