INDIA Opposition Bloc Meeting in Delhi Postponed Amid Key Leader Unavailability

In an unexpected turn of events, the scheduled INDIA opposition bloc meeting in Delhi, initially set for Wednesday, has been postponed. This development aligns with the simultaneous considerations of key figures like Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, and Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav, who are contemplating abstaining from the crucial gathering.

Notably, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was anticipated to be absent from the forthcoming meeting, with JD(U) chief Lalan Singh and Bihar’s Minister of Water Resources, Sanjay Kumar Jha, set to represent him, according to available information. The report cites Nitish Kumar’s reported illness as a reason for his non-participation. Additionally, Mamata Banerjee and Akhilesh Yadav have conveyed uncertainties due to prior commitments.

The situation becomes more intricate as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin faces travel constraints, being unable to attend the meeting due to the closure of Chennai airport caused by Cyclone Michaung.

Adding to the complexity, Samajwadi Party spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhary has asserted that the party’s leader, Akhilesh Yadav, has ‘no intention’ of participating in the upcoming INDIA bloc meeting.

The scheduled December 6 assembly, marking a three-month hiatus since the last one in Mumbai on August 31 and September 1, raises questions about the dynamics within the opposition bloc. Notably, on Monday, Mamata Banerjee expressed her lack of awareness regarding any such meeting, emphasizing that her party was not informed about the INDIA bloc’s intention to convene a session in New Delhi.
