PANJIM, JULY 25 Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee on Saturday said that though India is still reeling under the impact of global recession, with corrective measures having been taken, in another one-and-a-half year, India would be able to come to the desired trajectory of growth of around 9%.

Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee on Saturday said that though India is still reeling under the impact of global recession, with corrective measures having been taken, in another one-and-a-half year, India would be able to come to the desired trajectory of growth of around 9%.
Addressing a gathering here, the Union finance minister outlined the measures taken by the Central government to reduce the impact of the recession and also to help the affected sectors to make a comeback.
He said that three stimulus packages were announced by the government which has started yielding results. In certain sectors, it will be visible in September end, he said.
If anyone says that we have come out of the woods, it would be incorrect, he clarified while addressing the captains of industry at an interactive session held at Cidade de Goa.
Besides the three stimulus packages, measures were also taken through the Union Budget he presented last month, he said adding that the RBI has also taken adequate steps to help the economy make a comeback.
Over the last few years, he said, the country achieved 9% growth rate of the GDP and maintained it before the global recession began.
