Indian Navy float to feature in Margao Carnival parade

MARGAO: The Margao Municipal Council is gearing up to host the Carnival festival on February 11 in Margao, with a special focus on Indian Navy floats as a central attraction.

During a press conference, Chairperson of MMC Damodar Shirodkar and President of the Carnival committee, councillor Milagrena Gomes, announced their intention to prioritise traditional Carnival festivities.

“We are excited to announce that the Indian Navy will be participating in the float parade, providing live demonstrations to promote awareness of the Navy’s contributions to the nation among the younger generation,” stated Shirodkar.

He said that the Tourism Department has stressed the importance of showcasing traditional Carnival aspects and highlighting the originality of village life.

Milagrena Gomes outlined the route of the float parade, starting from Holy Spirit Church and concluding at MMC square.

Shirodkar clarified that there are no pending bills from khell-tiatr directors who staged traditional performances during the previous Carnival festival.
