India’s Women’s Cricket Team Wins Gold Medal at Asian Games

The India women’s cricket team secured a remarkable 19-run
victory over Sri Lanka in the Asian Games women’s cricket gold medal match.

The Women in Blue not only broke the pattern of losing
crucial matches in major events in recent years but also achieved a significant
milestone. They became only the second team in Asian Games history to clinch
gold in women’s cricket, all of this in their debut appearance at the
continental event.

Titas Sadhu played a essential role with an outstanding
spell of 4-1-6-3, effectively restricting the Sri Lankan team to a total of
97/8. Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues contributed significantly as India
posted a score of 116/7.

“We all had a clear plan of what we had to do.
Obviously, we got a good momentum in the first over itself. We had discussed
during the innings break that we will keep calm and stick to what we had
decided,” said Sadhu.

The 18-year-old right-arm medium pacer from Bengal expressed
her delight at bringing home the gold for her country in this prestigious continental
event, saying, “It was a great opportunity we got this time, and the fact
that we were able to grab that opportunity, I’m very glad and grateful.”
