PANJIM: Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) has filed a 20-page Indictment against Electricity Department junior engineer (JE) Vishwanath Bhat in connection with a bribe for a domestic connection.
In June 2017, ACB of the Vigilance Directorate, had registered a FIR against Bhat attached to the Cortalim office of the department for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe for releasing an electricity connection.
ACB registered a case based on a video uploaded by complainant Makbul Jawli on YouTube exposing the engineer for allegedly accepting a bribe. ACB immediately took cognisance of the video, which had gone viral.
A statement issued by Priyanka Kashyap says the 20-page charge sheet has 77 supporting documents, 55 exhibits as evidence and 25 prosecution witnesses.
