VASCO: The Indo-French bilateral naval exercise Varuna-19 will be held in two phases from May 1 to 10, off Goa coast. The Harbour phase will be held in Goa coast from May 1 to 6 and the Sea phase will be held from May 7 to 10 off Goa coast, naval sources said.
Sources from the Indian Navy informed that the Indian ships participating in major bilateral exercise are INS Tarkash (frigate), INS Vikramaditya (aircraft carrier), INS Mumbai (destroyer-fleet commander Western fleet embarked), INS Deepak (tanker) and INS Shankul (submarine).
The French fleets are FNS Amethyste (nuclear propelled submarine), FNS Forbin (frigate), FNS Charles de Gaulle (nuclear propelled aircraft carrier- commander rapid maritime force), FNS Provence (frigate), FNS Laouche Treville (frigate) and FNS Marne (tanker).
The fighter fleet has grabbed the attention of the people from the port town. Many locals were seen clicking selfies and the photographs of the fleet.
