PANJIM: Imagine Panjim Smart City Development Limited (IPSCDL) has defended the trip to Indore by 23 delegates stating it wants to replicate the cleanliness system adopted by the city in Madhya Pradesh.
“In the last two years, Indore city has undergone significant changes. It has progressed a lot in terms of cleanliness. People are conscious about keeping the city clean. Garbage from commercial places is picked thrice a day, the roads are swept/washed every night and plastic bags are replaced by cotton and paper bags. We want to achieve this,” IPSCDL Director Siddhart Kunkalienkar said at a press conference on Tuesday.
The three-day visit to Indore by 23 people including IPSCDL MD and CEO Swayandipta Pal Chaudhuri, Kunkaliencar, Associate Manager along with City Commissioner Ajit Roy, Deputy Mayor Asmita Kerkar, two municipal engineers and councilors from the ruling and opposition has become the topic of debate.
Kunkalienkar, in a bid to allay controversy surrounding the trip, claimed that the trip was hectic. “Our team would start their day at 9am and finish late evening. All through the day, the group underwent experiences the city (Indore) adopted and interacted with the officials there. It was a hectic trip,” he said adding, “It is not difficult for Panjim to achieve what Indore has achieved so far, in the next one year or so. In fact, with good coordination among councilors and others, we can go a step ahead.”
