PANJIM: Industries Minister Mauvin Godinho on Monday made a strong pitch for investment at ‘Invest Goa 2024’ and urged the industry leaders to consider Goa as an investment destination.
Speaking at the ‘Invest Goa 2024’ Summit, Godinho said Goa is moving beyond its traditional reliance on tourism and has shifted focus to fostering environment-friendly industries that not only drive economic activity but also contribute to the prosperity of industrialists.
He said the ultimate goal is to encourage expansion within their companies, thereby promoting overall industrial growth. Expressing a desire for industrialists to actively participate in Goa’s development, the minister portrayed the region as a unique business environment and emphasized the unparalleled blend of business and leisure, making Goa the exclusive destination where conducting business seamlessly integrates with relaxation.
In Godinho’s vision, conducting business in Goa becomes an enriching experience, motivating individuals to extend their working hours and contribute to the state’s sustained economic progress.
Later, addressing a press conference, minister Godinho said the government wants the existing industries to expand and keeping that in mind it has been decided to increase the FAR in the industrial estates.
“If the units want some additional work place then they will be allowed to go vertical,” he said. Godinho said that the government has signed of MoU between TVS Industrial and Logistics Park and Goa Investment Promotion and Facilitation Board, as well as Pai Kane Group and Goa Investment Promotion and Facilitation Board.
The MoU between TVS Industrial and Logistics Park and Goa Investment Promotion and Facilitation Board will generate at least 1000 employment opportunities (direct and indirect), he said. He said Pai Kane Group has signed the MoU for manufacturing energy equipment.
The minister said the whole effort is to change the industrial scenario. “’Goa is known for tourism, beaches and temples. But in future it will be known for environment-friendly industry promoting economic activities,” he said.
