CALANGUTE: In a series of incidents over the weekend, lifeguards manning the beaches in Goa displayed swift action to keep beach-goers safe. At Morjim beach, lifesavers Ketan Nagvekar and Vijay Mote rescued a 35-year-old Russian man who, under the influence of alcohol, encountered difficulties while swimming in the sea. The lifesavers used a jetski and rescue board to bring the man ashore, where he was checked for vitals and later reunited with his companion.
Meanwhile, at Anjuna beach, a 39-year-old individual from Hyderabad received first aid after stepping on a piece of glass on the sand, resulting in a bleeding cut on the sole of his left foot. The presence of broken glass fragments on beaches raises concerns for beachgoers.
At Calangute beach, a 68-year-old UK national received medical aid from lifesavers Ashwin Ghag and Harsha Naik after a beach umbrella fell on her, causing a cut on her forehead and minor scratches on her right leg.
Lifesavers administered immediate first aid before handing her over to emergency services (108) for further evaluation. In a separate incident at Baga beach, Drishti Marine lifesavers located and reunited an 8-year-old boy from Pune with his father after he was reported missing.
