Infra review, solutions discussed to tackle power outages in Curtorim

MARGAO: A meeting was conducted at the office of Chief Electrical Engineer (CEC) Stephen Fernandes in Panjim, where instructions were provided to the power department’s staff on resolving electricity supply issues in Curtorim constituency.

Earlier, the CEC had issued similar instructions for other Salcete-based constituencies.

In the presence of Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco, a comprehensive review took place with power department officials to assess the existing infrastructure and identify the faults causing frequent power breakdowns in the villages of Curtorim constituency.

Discussions revolved around finding solutions and formulating an action plan. It was announced that underground cabling would be carried out in Maina-Curtorim, Manora, Raia, and parts of Arlem, Uzro, and Raia Bazaar. Updates were also shared regarding the installation of transformers required to meet the constituency’s capacity. Short-term measures will be implemented immediately, while major works are scheduled to commence from October 1 onwards.

It is worth noting that during his recent visit to Margao, Power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar expressed confidence that the power issues faced in South Goa would be addressed through the prioritized underground cabling project and ongoing upgradation of various substations.
