Inquiry may be launched in PSI-constable fight

PANJIM: A police sub inspector and a constable, both posted at GRP camp, entered into a bitter verbal duel over a petty issue rattling the department on Monday. While there is no police complaint registered, it is reliably learnt that the department could launch an internal inquiry into the quarrel between the PSI and constable.
“The two indulged in a verbal fight over a petty issue. The PSI then flung a book at the constable,” said a police officer. The constable was later taken to Goa Medical College for examination and the report has not ascertained any injury on him, police sources said.
Panjim police confirmed that there is no police complaint filed against either of the two men.
In 2016, the PSI had been arrested by Anti-Corruption Branch for allegedly demanding a bribe from a man who was accused of abetting an absconding accused. He had been subsequently suspended.
He was released thereafter and re-instated into the service even as disciplinary inquiry is pending against him.
