PANJIM: A day after nine women escaped from the State-run Protective Home, the Goa government has ordered a high-level inquiry into the incident, asking for a report within six days.
“I have ordered an inquiry into the incident. Such an escape is a matter of a grave concern,” Women and Child Development Minister Dilip Parulekar said. He said WCD director Shilpa Shinde will inquire into the incident and submit the report in 6 days.
“We will ensure that there are fool-proof arrangements so that such escapes don’t recur. If there are some faults in the system or design of the protective home, they would be rectified. As far as the escape is concerned, if anyone is found guilty, then that person would be dealt seriously,” he said.
Nine women had escaped on Monday night after assaulting a staffer of the protective home and also over powering a lady constable on duty outside the facility.
Old Goa Police had arrested 3 women, while four Bangladeshis, one Nepalese and one Turkish national are still missing.
The search for them is still on, Old Goa Police said.
