MARGAO: In a significant development, an inspection of the proposed alignment for the new Borim bridge that passes through the khazan fields of Loutolim has been fixed on Friday, January 5.
This is in connection with the two meetings that the farmers of Loutolim, along with the local MLA, Environment Minister Aleixo Sequeira, had held with the PWD in Altinho, Panjim.
At those meetings, the objections the farmers have to the proposed alignment were conveyed and the inspection is aimed at assessing these concerns on the ground level.
Meetings were also held for the purpose of finding a new alignment. In a related matter, the farmers who were called to the office of the PWD’s Special Land Acquisition Officer (SLAO) in Panjim on Thursday, January 4, will be submitting a request to seek more time. The PWD National Highway (NH) had already written to the SLAO asking that the objections filed by the Loutolim farmers be dismissed and had reiterated why the selected alignment is the most suitable.
However, the farmers of Loutolim plan to give a strong counter. The farmers as well as the other Loutolim locals have warned that they will not accept the present alignment.
