VASCO: Niz Goenkar Revolutionary Front (NGRF) has written to the Chief Secretary of Goa requesting installation of CCTV cameras in all the police stations, including the offices of the police officers of all ranks.
The NGRF demanded the CCTV cameras for “full surveillance and to ensure proper policing in Police stations”.
The NGRF has mentioned that as per their observation most of the police stations in Goa do not have operational CCTV cameras.
NGRF member Chandrashekar Vasta recalled that some years ago the Supreme Court had made it mandatory to install CCTV cameras in all the police stations. He also mentioned that there should be transparency and accountability about the police functioning.
Vasta hopes that his letter will be considered by the government and some action will be expected in the near future.
