MARGAO: Navelim MLA along with the parish priest of the Rosary Church of Tuesday began the work of installing railing on the sides of the footpaths, opposite Navelim Church.
Fr Arlino De’Mello along with the Navelim MLA Luizinho Faleiro, sarpanch and panchas of Navelim Panchayat started the work.
There are atleast 10,000 students and several other people using these footpaths daily. However, they are open to the main road which has heavy traffic all day long.
Navelim MLA said that the schools, college students and people were inconvenienced as the main road had a lot of traffic movement. “I had raised the questions in the Assembly session on it. We have got two to three projects passed which include road tarring, signals, median and the railings,” he added.
“Facilities are falling in place. This is an effort to keep the Navelim village beautiful and to give the people the best facilities. Both sides railing will be installed,” informed the MLA.
