MARGAO: Congress Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco has accused the State government of going against the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) guidelines with respect to instructions issued for the teachers and non-teaching staff.
Alleging that there are grave lapses in following the MHA guidelines, Reginaldo criticised the State government’s decision to ask the teaching and non-teaching staff to join the colleges and educational institutions.

Reginaldo referred to a letter of the State government, which directed that colleges and educational institutions will remain closed till July 31, 2020.
“It has been further stated that online/distance learning shall continue to be permitted and shall be encouraged,” Reginaldo pointed out.
“It is seen that our Goa government has asked the teaching and non-teaching staff to join the colleges and educational institutions which is against the MHA guidelines. As COVID-19 cases are spiking at an alarming rate and as on July 9, nine lives have been lost due to the pandemic; I earnestly request the government to follow the content of the said letter in its true spirit. Please do not put the lives of faculty members, teachers, researchers non-teaching staff in danger of the pandemic, let them work from home,” he added.
