Insurance cover for Griha Aadhar beneficiaries

PANJIM: The beneficiaries of Griha Aadhar scheme will now be covered under Pradhan Mantri Suraskha Bima Yojan (PMSBY), a government backed accident insurance scheme. 
In a press statement issued on Wednesday, the State government has said that all the Griha Aadhar beneficiaries have to register themselves for insurance cover under PMSBY in the bank branch where they are receiving monthly financial assistance of Rs 1500.
It has further said that as a premium towards the insurance cover, Rs 12 per annum will be deducted from the benefit in January. 
PMSBY is a one year personal accident insurance scheme, renewable from year to year, offering coverage for death, disability due to accidents. 
and is available to people in the age group of 18 to 70 years with a risk coverage of Rs 2 lakh for accidental death and Rs 11 akh for permanent disability. 
The Griha Aadhar scheme, launched in September 2013, for housewives, has covered nearly 1.29 lakh women. There are around 25,000 applications pending for clearance.
