In anticipation of the upcoming Lok Sabha Election 2024, a crucial meeting of the Inter-State Border Coordination was convened at the Conference Hall of Goa Police Headquarters in Panaji. The meeting, chaired by the State Police Nodal Officer, Omvir Singh, IPS, IGP, brought together senior officials from neighboring states Maharashtra and Karnataka, alongside senior officials from Goa and the Incharges of Bordering Police Stations.
The virtual meeting, reflecting the modern approach to coordination, witnessed the participation of key figures such as Spl. IGP, Konkan Range for Maharashtra State, Sanjay Darade, IPS, and Supdt of Police, Sindhudurg, Saurav Kumar Agarwal, IPS.
Among the attendees were Vishnu Vardhan, IPS, Supdt. of Police, Karwar; Ravi D. Naik, DySP, Bailhongal Sub-Division, Belgavi; Sanket Sakhardande, Asst. Commissioner of Excise, Goa; SP (North), SP (South), SP (Crime), SP (Coastal), SP (ANC), SP (ATS), SP (Training), SP (Special Branch), SP (Konkan Railway), and other senior officials of Goa Police.
The primary objective of the coordination meeting was to strengthen collaboration between neighboring states sharing borders with Goa. This collaboration aims to ensure the seamless conduct of the forthcoming Lok Sabha Election 2024 by facilitating the exchange of information regarding Wanted Criminals, Proclaimed Offenders, and other aspects related to the election process.
The meeting also focused on the enforcement of measures to seize illegal items, including cash, liquor, drugs, etc., being transported across the borders. The participants engaged in discussions to enhance security measures and intelligence-sharing mechanisms to maintain the integrity of the electoral process.
Sunita Sawant, GPS, the Supdt. of Police (Election), expressed gratitude by proposing the Vote of Thanks, acknowledging the collaborative efforts aimed at safeguarding the electoral process and ensuring a fair and secure environment for the Lok Sabha Election 2024. The coordination meeting reflects the commitment of law enforcement agencies to uphold the democratic values of the nation.
