International Yoga Day celebrated in State

PANJIM: International Yoga Day was celebrated across the State.  To celebrate this event a special programme was organized at Dr Shyamaprasad Mukherjee Stadium, Bambolim which was inaugurated by Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister  Francisco D’Souza. Chief Secretary, R K Srivastava; Director of Sports and Youth Affairs,  V.M Prabhudesai; MD GTDC,  Nikhil Desai and others attended.
Apart from the event held at Dr Shyamaprasad Mukherjee Stadium, various programmes were also held across Goa to celebrate the International Yoga Day. The function was compered by Dr Dayanand Rao while Govind Parvatkar proposed the vote of thanks.
St Cruz: A yoga session was organized at Santa Cruz Higher Secondary School for students of std XI. Shila Kankonkar, Executive Engineer, PWD and Kalyani Naik, retired office superintendent were the instructors. The session was organized by Nitin Y Dhupdale, lecturer incharge, Urban health centre at Santa Cruz and Denise D’Sa, Principal St Cruz Higher Secondary. Dr Seema Natekar, Medical officer of UHC Santa Cruz, Dr Nikhil Akarkar and Michael Almeida were present.
Raj Bhavan: Governor Dr Mridula Sinha along with her spouse Dr Ram Kripal Sinha led  the yoga programme at Raj Bhavan. Conducted by Yoga Guru Sham Chetan the programme was attended by Raj Bhavan officers and staff, police personnel and Mushtifund School students.
VASCO: Students from various private schools, state as well as central government employees and other citizens from Mormugao Taluka participated in International Yoga Day celebration. 
Mass yoga events were held in several private schools, public places, lawns of residential localities of port town. 
Central Industrial Security Force along with Airport Authority of India organized a mass Yoga event at old airport premises, the Goa Shipyard Limited as well as Mormugao Port Trust officials too organized similar programmes at their premises. Similarly, the India navy officials too celebrated second International Yoga Day.  
All personnel of Goa Naval Area including families participated in the International Yoga Day celebration.
DIVAR: Our Lady of Divar High School, Divar celebrated the World Yoga Day. Over 200 students from Std III to VII guided by the PE teacher Pundalik Gurav took part in the celebrations. Teachers Maria Vaz and Celisa Dias e D’Sa spoke about yoga and its benefits.
The students performed  various asanas as per the guidelines issued by the Ministry of AYUSH, New Delhi. Fr Jose Dias along with Headmaster Mario Moraes and teachers were present.
MARGAO: Over 550 students from Margao participated in the Yoga Day celebration organised by the Margao Urban Health Centre at Aadarsh High School.
The Director of Sports and Youth Affairs organised a workshop on Yoga for secondary, higher secondary schools and NSS volunteers.
Celebrations were also held at Ravindra Bhavan Margao in association with Patanjali Yoga Samiti, Bharat Swabhiman Trust, Ambika Yog Kutir, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Rushi Sanskruti Vidya Kendra, Urja Wellness Centre and Dambabale Ghodey Cultural Association.
