The new smooth and straight road from Old Goa to Panjim has resulted in most of the vehicular traffic getting diverted through this route. However, speeding vehicles on the road has become a cause of concern for residents. Moreover, the Chimbel-Ribandar junction has turned into a major accident-prone zone and it is at this junction, that a bottleneck occurs daily. “It’s a scary situation at the junction. Drivers of speeding vehicles coming from Kadamba plateau have to suddenly apply the brakes. The problem is with the drivers of heavy vehicles, who face a tough time to control their vehicles at this junction,” said local resident Samrat Chimulkar. Another resident, Sandesh Naik, said that often at night, vehicles have gone off the road as the driver loses control at this junction.
Intersection is accident-prone
