PANJIM: Though there isn’t any movement as of now on the Marina projects in the State, they have not yet been scrapped.
In 2015, Investment Promotion Board (IPB) of Goa had granted in-principle clearance to the two marina projects in North Goa and South Goa districts.
The two marinas were planned to come up along Zuari river in Sancoale village, spread over 1.55 lakh square metres and in Nauxi village, also along Zuari river, spread over a similar acreage.
The two projects for yacht anchoring, yacht repairs and other hospitality facilities are being proposed on a public-private basis.
The projects were on hold after a public outcry, including BJP’s own legislators.
But the approvals given for the projects have still not been revoked.
Documents available with Herald reveal that the IPB approvals are still valid.
“The in-principle approvals to Marina projects were granted by Goa-IPB in 2015 are still valid under the provision of law in force of the Goa Investment Promotion Act 2014,” this has been said by the chief minister Manohar Parrikar in a written reply to the Assembly.
