PANJIM: The Investment Promotion Board (IPB) which met on Wednesday cleared several projects including the CMM Logistics Park and the Entertainment City by Delta Corp at Dhargal.
The Board that met under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant, cleared and approved seven of the 11 projects discussed. One project was rejected while three have been kept pending and have been deferred, sources from IPB told Herald. No further information was disbursed by the IPB spokesperson.
Industries Minister Vishwajit Rane, however, tweeted saying, “Our IPB meetings chaired by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant have been focusing on clearing projects on fast track mode.”
He added, “We also deliberated on forming a committee to draft an Industrial Policy which will augment industrial production and industrial
growth in our State. We are striving towards creating one of the finest policies in the country to make Goa an industrial hub. Around 11 projects were cleared during the Investment Promotion and Facilitation Board meeting held on Wednesday. The CMM Logistics Park and Entertainment City by Delta Corp at Dhargal were two of the major projects that were cleared during the meeting.”
The Board is supposed to meet every three months to discuss projects awaiting government approval.
At the last meeting on April 12 this year, IPB had cleared12 new projects of the 18 discussed. All the projects approved in April were in the manufacturing industry that included firms manufacturing beverages, pharmaceuticals etc, which meant that they should be able to generate jobs.
