PANJIM: Ina bid to revive the sluggish industrial sector by attracting more investments, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Thursday made a major announcement that all proposals investment, which come to the Investment Promotion Board would be cleared within 30 days.
Speaking as the Chief Guest after inaugurating the Vibrant Goa Summit, Sawant said that the atmosphere in Goa is conducive for investment and business.
“My government will work more closely with the industry stakeholders to make Goa more vibrant than what it is now,” he said.
He said that State has an Investment Promotion Board, which is established to facilitate investment approval from the Government of Goa.
“The single window system will ensure the speed in processing of investor proposal and investor facility. I wish to inform the foreign delegation who wish to invest in Goa that your proposal will be cleared within 30 days,” Sawant announced.
He said that with a conducive business environment existing in Goa, the State is looking at improving its performance in the area such as hospitality, IT services besides the agro based sectors.
He said that the export policy for the State of Goa is also being prepared for export of goods including agriculture produce. Goa’s industrial growth is written by strong growth of industrial sector such as tourism and IT, he added.
The chief minister however rued the fact that the closure of mining has disturbed the entire ecosystem of allied industries including logistics, truck owners, barge owners as well as other service providers.
“The solution to the mining issue would come very soon,” he informed.
Speaking on Vibrant Goa, Sawant said that the event gives an opportunity to various investors to interact over the next three days and that this will help in improving the economy of the State and the country as a whole.
“It was a dream of our former chief minister (late) Manohar Parrikar to promote Goa as an investment destination and was instrumental in organising this kind of an event. We welcome to Goa 2,000 Indian delegates, 500 foreign delegates, 85 international speakers and 45 international partners. Welcome to ‘Vibrant Goa’,” he said.
He said the prime focus of ‘Vibrant Goa is inclusive development in key areas such as innovation sustainability, industries, technology, skill development knowledge sharing.
“The prime objective of this event is to provide a platform to invest in Goan businesses.
“The Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi has urged us to take a pledge to build a new India by 2022 an India that will be a clean, corruption-free and terrorism-free India that will focus on skill development and ‘Make in India’. Let us all be part of the story of new India,” he said.
