PANJIM: Continuing its opposition to the Goa Investment Promotion and Facilitation Board (IPFB), the Congress, demanding ‘getting rid’ of the newly re-constituted Board alleged that ‘IPFB remains a single window for destruction of Goa and Goenkarpon’.
Addressing media persons on Saturday, Congress media cell chairman Adv Yatish Naik slammed Goa Forward Party (GPF) and accused it of making use of IPFB as a tool to gain power and publicity, before the elections.
“The BJP-led coalition government’s decision to reconstitute IPFB is the mother of all U-turns. The Board is a ‘demon’ and it will continue to remain single window for destruction of Goem and Goenkarponn. It is a direct attack on Goem and Goenkarponn,” Naik said.
“Congress had opposed its constitution earlier and it continues its opposition. We want the government to get rid of this,” he stated.
The government on Friday reconstituted the IPFB under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, with Revenue Minister Rohan Khaunte and Tourism Minister Manohar Azgaonkar as vice chairmen.
Naik said that certain former independent MLAs, who later formed Goa Forward and are in alliance with BJP, were opposing the IPFB prior to the elections. “Post elections, they have become part and parcel of IPFB formation. This proves that they (GFP) are there for their lust for power,” he said.
Congress claimed that contentious issues like IPFB are likely to be a bone of contention between BJP and its allies while drafting the Common Minimum Programme (CMP).
Naik pointed out to how the Investment Promotion Act 2014, under which IPFB has been constituted, overrides all State laws. “It is a Draconian Act to democracy and process of laws,” he charged.
