Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s fearless approach has left even some of the world’s best bowlers searching for answers in IPL 2026. Rajasthan Royals teammate Dhruv Jurel revealed that the 15-year-old prodigy simply “doesn’t give a damn about any bowler” and focuses only on the ball.
Sooryavanshi has already taken apart elite bowlers including Jasprit Bumrah, Pat Cummins, Mohammed Siraj, Josh Hazlewood and Kagiso Rabada this season. His latest assault came against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Eliminator, where he smashed a breathtaking 97 off just 29 balls, falling three runs short of what would have been the fastest century in IPL history.

Cummins, regarded as one of the smartest bowlers in world cricket, tried different plans to stop the teenager. He bowled full on the leg stump, attempted short deliveries and even mixed in slower balls, but Sooryavanshi adjusted instantly and kept launching sixes all around the ground.
Speaking after the game, Jurel explained that Sooryavanshi’s confidence comes from constant practice and self-belief.
“The best thing about Vaibhav is that he backs himself every single time. He never doubts whether he can do something or not,” Jurel said.
Jurel also pointed out that most young cricketers are often intimidated by big-name bowlers, but Sooryavanshi is different.
“When we are young, we are told to watch the ball and not the bowler. But many youngsters still think about the reputation of the bowler. Vaibhav only watches the ball. His mindset is simple — he doesn’t care who the bowler is,” he added.
Even Sunrisers Hyderabad assistant coach James Franklin admitted that their plans against the teenager failed, saying there was only a tiny margin to bowl at him on a batting-friendly pitch.
Sooryavanshi hammered 12 sixes during the unforgettable knock and also surpassed Chris Gayle’s record for most sixes in a single IPL season.
