VASCO: BJP National Vice President and Goa Desk in-charge Smriti Irani on Saturday evening berated the Congress-led UPA government for failing to live up to the expectations of the people.
Addressing a BJP women’s convention at Vasco, Irani claimed the Congress had ruined the country and felt the people should elect the BJP at the centre to bring the country back on the right track.
“In 2009, the Congress had promised to bring prices of essential commodities under control, but it has failed to keep its promise to the common man. It is an old habit of Congress to make promises just before the election and then conveniently forget about them,” said Irani.
Forest Minister Alina Saldanha claimed that in the last two years, the BJP government in the State had implemented many social welfare schemes for the benefit of the ladies and senior citizens.
Others who spoke at the meeting included Power Minister Milind Naik, Vasco MLA and KTC Chairman Carlos Almeida and other BJP workers.
