PANJIM: Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) constable Sushant V Sawant will be awarded the Chief Minister’s Bravery Award 2023, for risking his life and saving a Russian woman from drowning at Chapora in 2019.
Sawant presently posted at Goa Police Headquarters, Altinho, IRB, had saved life of 49-year-old Russian national Ilona Madalieva from drowning while risking his own life, in rocky and rough weather condition in River Chapora on July 2, 2019.
For, the exemplary courage and bravery displayed by Sushant Sawant, the Goa government is awarding him with the Chief Minister’s Bravery Award and a sum of Rs 1 lakh, according to information given by the Department of Information and Publicity.
