MAPUSA: The Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) police on Thursday arrested a woman for trying to smuggle a mobile into the Central Jail at Colvale.
The incident occurred when members of the prison ministry service were visiting the Central Jail, Colvale. The woman is also one of the members of the prison ministry service. She was caught smuggling a mobile phone concealed in her clothes by IRB women staff during frisking.
It is learnt that the woman has confessed that she was taking the mobile to hand it over to a Russian undertrial. IRB Police Inspector Sushant Joshi conducted the investigation and submitted his report to the Superintendent of Jail Shankar Gaonkar for further action.
