PORVORIM: CM Sawant informed the House that as per the directions of the High Court (HC), the Registrar of Cooperative Societies (RCS) has fixed the date for hearing on July 25 in the alleged irregularities and mismanagement in the dairy cooperatives.
He was responding to the Calling Attention motion moved by Curtorim MLA Reginaldo Lourenco, stating that the Goa Dairy is being investigated for irregularities and the tainted officers and officials are being reappointment and demanded to know the measures to be taken by the govt on the issue.
Sawant added that after the Inquiry Officer appointed by the RCS submitted a report on May 22, 2018 and highlighted various irregularities into the functioning of the Goa State Cooperative Milk Producers Union Ltd.
Stating that acting upon the report, Sawant informed that the RCS through a judgment on August 31, 2018 disqualified 7 Board of Directors of GSCMPUL and the Managing Director was placed under suspension.
Sawant said, “Being aggrieved with the judgment, the Board of Directors and the Managing Director of the Union has filed different writ petitions before the HC of Bombay at Goa,who directed the RCS to pass a fresh order after hearing all the petitions in accordance with law, expeditiously and not later than 4 months from the date of communication of the order which expiring on August 10.” The CM said that RCS has issued notices to the concerned petitioners and a hearing on the matter is under process.
