PONDA: The officials from traffic department said soon wearing of ISI marked helmet would become mandatory for bikers. Traffic department would not allow henceforth the sale and use of non-ISI marked helmets in pursuit to curb road deaths.
The officials said the order has already been issued for compulsory use of ISI marked helmet from Ministry of Road Transport and Highways that came into effect from 1 June 2021.
However before implementing order for wearing of ISI marked helmet the traffic department would create sufficient awareness among bike riders how it is essential for safety of bike riders to wear the ISI marked helmet as it provides safety to the head in case of accident unlike the non-ISI ones. Not wearing of ISI marked helmets would invite fines, said the officials.
