CANACONA: Canacona MLA Isidore Fernandes speaking to the media said all the four panchayats where his panel got majority, he will work with the panchayats to solve the problems of the people without discrimination.
There are in all 6 panchayats in Canacona constituency out of which 4 are backed by Fernandes. He said his panel will provide a corruption-free tenure.
However, the Shristhal panchayat will be ruled by the BJP-backed panel with ex-Sarpanch as the Sarpanch and Vidya Gayak as his deputy.
The Agonda panchayat will be led by Barsat Naik Gaonkar as sarpanch and Abel Borges as his deputy. When Herald called Naik Gaonkar as to whom his panel is in allegiance with, he said, “we didn’t contest the election on any party platform so we have formed an Independent panel and formed the panchayat”.
