ISL agrees to engage local facilities

PANJIM: A day after Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) blocked Mumbai City FC team bus at their training session, on Thursday, the Indian Super League (ISL) organisers have assured to give preference to the locals for providing various facilities including transportation and security during the tournament, which is set to start from Friday. 

The Islanders were halted by the Congress workers at the Nagao Panchayat ground, the training ground that has been assigned to the Mumbai club, on Wednesday. The players were not allowed to proceed with their training session by the workers. The GPCC has been demanding that all the contracts related to ISL should be given to the locals. 

A letter in this regard has also been written to the Chairman of Football Sports Development Ltd (FSDL) Nita Ambani by the GPCC, who have also threatened to disrupt all the ISL matches. FSDL is the organiser of ISL. 

On Thursday, a delegation of ISL organisers held a meeting with the GPCC members including Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat assuring that they will hire local buses, taxis, tempo vehicle as well as security services of the locals for entire tournament. 

Speaking to the media persons post meeting, Kamat said that the organisers have agreed to hire local taxies, some Volvo buses and also security.
