ISL will not pull much revenue for Goa

PANJIM: Taxi and bus operators who have been facing the major brunt during this pandemic are upset by the fact that they are not getting business through the Indian Super League (ISL) even which kicks off later this week. In fact, the football fan will also not be allowed to go to the stadium to watch these matches live.

“We were without business for quite some time and we expected to get some during this national big event which is happening in Goa. Unfortunately most of the teams participating have hired taxis and buses from outside Goa to ply their players and officials. This is grossly unfair and we have approached the Chief Minister twice in the past 15 days,” said Darryl Nunes, proprietor of Nunes Travels.

Even though the Government of Goa is “Vocal for Local”, it is in a quandary on how to resolve this issue.

Meanwhile, not denying this issue the ISL sources said that the decision had been taken long back.

The State did anticipate some revenue generation out of this event but none except the hoteliers will benefit for this biggest seventh ISL tournament where 11 teams are participating.
