PANJIM: Israel has begun parleys with Goa government on the knowledge exchange in the field of agriculture with an aim to encourage horticulture and floriculture in the State.
Consul General of Israel in Mumbai Jonathan Miller on Thursday met Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and held discussions on providing the technical know-how to the State government on rejuvenating the horticulture and floriculture sector in Goa on lines with Israel.
The Israeli delegation also held meetings with Director of Agriculture Prajapati Toofani to ascertain whether agriculture reviving projects can be taken up in government-run farms.
The issue faced by the Agriculture Department on how to cultivate on the rocky and marshy lands of the State is also assured to be addressed by Israeli experts, Giriraj Vernekar, Officer on Special Duty to Chief Minister said.
The Israel government has also extended help in providing training to the farmers in improving agricultural knowledge. They also intend to increase the scope of studies for the State agriculture officers visiting the country as a part of National Horticulture Mission.
