PORVORIM, MARCH 25
Israeli drug dealer Dudu, who was recently caught at Anjuna in connection with the narcotic trade, has been convicted by Mapusa Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) on charges of overstaying in the country.
However, the point of sentence will be pronounced on March 30.
It may be recalled that in 2007, Dudu was arrested at Anjuna by Mapusa Police PI Rajesh Kumar, who was then holding the charge of Anjuna police station, for overstaying in the country without any documents. Accordingly, the charges were filed against Dudu at Mapusa JMFC.
It is learnt that Dudu had appealed against the charges at the Fast Track Court, which dismissed the appeal and referred the case back to Mapusa JMFC. Finally, the trial of the case began and the arguments were heard.
Mapusa JMFC Bosco Roberts in his order passed on Thursday convicted Dudu for overstaying, but reserved his judgment for March 30. The State was represented by Assistant Public Prosecutor Jennifer Santamaria.
It may be recalled that another case against Dadu in connection with drugs is going on in NDFC Court, Mapusa, the judgement of which will be pronounced on March 29.
