IT dept about to suspend ‘official’ seeking bribe

PANJIM:  The Goa government has processed the file to the Vigilance department for the suspension of a Gazetted official, for asking a bribe  of Rs 1 lakh in return for contract basis job in InfoTech Corporation of Goa (ITG). This follows an audio clip of the officials conversation, which  has gone viral on social media.

Goa’s IT Minister Rohan Khaunte told O Heraldo, “The process of inquiry is on.”

In the purported audio clip, the ‘official’ from the Department of IT is heard convincing the prospective candidate for the post of Senior Associate- Social Media and to give him the money in cash promising return of the money in case he does not get the job.

“I am the authority here,” the person is heard as saying. On November 11 last year, the ITG had issued advertisement for the post on contract basis with consolidated monthly salary of Rs 75,000.

Taking serious note of the audio clip, Minister for IT Rohan Khaunte said that action has been initiated against the said Gazetted Officer.
