PANJIM: Goa IT Professionals (GITP) said that crucial suggestions made by GITP have not been considered by the Director of IT while drafting the IT policy for Goa.
GITP is a voluntary, apolitical and registered body of professionals of Goan origin employed in the Indian and the global IT industry. GITP claimed they have done relatively more work in the last year than officially designated individuals and bodies of successive Goa governments have done in the past years for a locally sustainable IT industry in Goa.
“However despite our repeated follow-ups and requests to the Goa government we are yet to be granted a representative seat on the Goa IT Policy advisory panel. We gather from reliable sources that this panel has begun its work and public suggestions are being informally sought all over again. Our suggestions have not been implemented in the policy,” GITP members said.
The revamped version of the IT Policy document had been originally submitted to Goa IT department on June 14, 2015 based on national and global experience plus best practices from other Indian states’ IT Policies adapted to the Goan context.
“GITP awaits Goa government’s decision to grant us representation on the Goa IT Policy panel,” GITP President Gurudev Naik said.
Naik said GITP has high expectations from the government to exercise responsibility very thoroughly to ensure that the final IT Policy is one of the best among all states and serves the long-pending purpose of providing modern employment to Goans in Goa.
