ITI instructor convicted for accepting bribe

PANJIM: Three years after being caught red-handed accepting bribe from a candidate seeking admission in the Industrial Training Institute (ITI) followed by charge-sheet and trial, ITI instructor K Henry Daniel has been convicted for the offence. 
Additional Sessions Court on Wednesday ordered his conviction while adjourning the matter for arguments on the quantum of punishment to Thursday. 
The Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) had arrested Daniel, a resident of GMC quarters, while accepting Rs 1,500 bribe from Santosh Kittli from Vasco seeking admissions at the institute. The instructor was posted at the fitters sections of ITI, Panjim. The charge-sheet filed under the Prevention of Corruption Act had accused him of not only demanding bribe to facilitate the complainant’s admission at the institute but the instructor also demanded another Rs 25,000 with a promise to enroll him as a peon in a government department.
