Wards 1, 2, 4, 8, 9 and 10 will see neck and neck battles as most of the candidates are former chairpersons and sitting councillors.
At a press conference on Friday, BJP Canacona block member Sarvanand Bhaghat claimed that the BJP will win seven out of the nine CMC seats due to their many development works in the last three-and-a-half years. When asked about their manifesto, he said they would declare it later.
Former Canacona MLA Vijay Pai Khot also held a press conference at his residence and declared that his eight candidates will be elected. His Kindlem candidate Prarthana Gaonkar has already been elected unopposed.
About their manifesto, he stated that the common issues in all wards are about water, electricity, the crematorium, and the bus stand. He also urged the voters to elect non-corrupt persons and not to fall prey to money, and criticised the BJP government for giving only false promises and no-development.
